# Create an API key

## Create

You can create keys once your account is open, after onboarding has finished.

1. In the rail, click **More**, then **API**.

2. Click **Create**.

3. Give the key a **Name** (up to 64 characters).

4. Choose what it can do:
   * **View (read only):** always on. Balances, activity, linked banks.
   * **Trade (move money and place trades on your behalf):** add this only if the key will place orders, deploy, or start deposits.

5. Click **Create key**.

6. On **Save API key**, copy the key. **This is the only time it's shown.** Then click **I've saved my key**.

The **API** page lists your keys with when each was created and last used.

## Revoke

1. On the **API** page, click **Revoke** next to the key.
2. Type the key's name into **Re-enter API key name** to confirm.
3. Click **Revoke key**.

The key stops working immediately and can't be restored.
